Service and Shared Community During Summer

The summer months offer university-aged young people and young professionals some respite from their usual routines and especially as the world slowly opens back up, opportunities to be together.

Three young men discerning with the De La Salle Christian Brothers in the Midwest District (learn more about the Contact Program) gathered in Memphis for a long weekend in June.

They stayed in community with the Brothers at Christian Brothers University and were able to share prayer, meals, and fraternity with them during their experience.

The group also participated in three separate service projects with Catholic Charities of West Tennessee.

Sharing and spending time with Gabe and Daniel opened up my spiritual vulnerability and helped fuel the next step of my formation.”

Christian Camacho, Aspirant with the De La Salle Christian Brothers

Discerners and Brothers in Initial Formation also spent time together during the Midwest District’s summer gathering. During the liturgy, Christian (second to left) made promises as an Aspirant (discerner who lives in community and ministers at a Lasallian school), as well did Bro. Ariel (left) who will enter his second year as a Postulant with the Brothers (Our Formation Process).
