What was your first experience of the Brothers?

I first met the Brothers during my junior year of college through a mutual acquaintance. One of the Brothers, Brother Ed Shields, FSC, invited me into community and that was a transformative experience that led me to truly consider the Brothers’ vocation.

What is exciting and energizing for you about religious life (particularly being Brother) today?

Being Brother goes beyond the lesson plans, classroom experience, and initial formation. It is about being open to communal life in service of others, most especially our students. I entered religious life to try and influence the lives of my students and in return, they have been changing my life for the better.

What do you look forward to about the Novitiate experience? How do you see it shaping the way you live your vocation as Brother?

I look forward to a Novitiate experience of mental and spiritual growth and developing healthy habits that I can take with me into my future ministries. Although difficult at times, community is one aspect of the Good News that Christ sought to model in His own Earthly ministry.  I hope to deepen my relationship with Christ and my brothers in community.
