Discernment Retreat for Young Adults
The Brothers of the Christian Schools House of Studies in Philadelphia welcomes young men and women (ages 22-35) who are discerning a call to Church service for a weekend retreat every second Friday of the month from dinner time until mid-day the following Sunday and at other times by appointment. The program is open to persons considering lives as Brothers, Deacons, Missioners, Monks, Nuns, Priests, Sisters or Volunteers. It includes quiet time for personal prayer and reflection, individual support from one or several Brothers of the Christian Schools, communal prayer and socializing, and visits to a few spots of apostolic interest in the greater Philadelphia area. Space is limited to five guests each weekend and reservations may be made by contacting Brother Edward (brotheredward@earthlink.net or 215.844.5333). There is no cost for the program but a freewill donation to the community would be graciously accepted.
Discovery Service Retreat for Young Men and Women in High School and College
The Christian Brothers House of Studies in Philadelphia welcomes small groups of accompanied high school students and individual college-aged young people who are discerning a call to Church service as a Brother, Deacon, Missioner, Monk, Nun, Priest, Sister or Volunteer. Retreats are held for several weeks during the summer months and other times during the academic year by appointment. The programs usually run from dinner time Sundays until after breakfast the following Saturday. The experience includes community prayer and reflection, apostolic activities with middle school children, group processing, individual conversations with one or several Brothers of the Christian Schools, communal work and socializing. Space is limited, minors need to be accompanied by a chaperone approved by the student’s high school and groups with girls must be accompanied by an adult female. Reservations may be made by contacting Brother Edward (brotheredward@earthlink.net or 215.844.5333). Cost for the program is $ 50.00, excluding transportation to Philadelphia.
