Judges Comments
- Includes a variety of symbols: circle/world; outside the "lines"; crosses in foreground and background/connection with Jesus; winding ribbon for halo and ground for prayer; hand/arm pointing away from self: let's get going.
- I'm struck by the originality and the appeal this image could have on young people. The prominence of the cross is a reminder that following Jesus is not always easy, but it is what De La Salle is calling us to.
- Rich imagery presented in a fine, personal, warm style. It’s an evocative and thoughtful interpretation of De La Salle as he might have been just before he became fully involved with the Brothers; young, serious, devout, and dapper (which would soon change). At the same time, it draws the viewer to see him in the context of his faith life, knowing that the way ahead is far from easy or light.
